Promotion of Petroleum Engineering Education to DTU bachelor students - presentation by SPE Copenhagen Section chairman, Hans Horikx

Wednesday, 26 March 2014, the DTU SPE Student Chapter with Alexander Shapiro organized an event to promote petroleum engineering education to DTU bachelor students. Around 75 students have participated. The SPE Copenhagen Section chairman, Hans Horikx, gave a presentation to the students. He introduced the listeners into the science involved in petroleum engineering, such as geoscience, chemistry, and physics, and how this science is applied in petroleum industry. Then he discussed the future of the industry and its impact into the ecology. He ended the presentation by talking about the career prospects and career ladder in the petroleum industry and the salary overview of each job function in a petroleum company, at the different regions of the world. He communicated his experience while working in many different companies and countries. During and after the presentation Hans actively and informally communicated with the audience, answering multiple questions.
