DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Titel<br>\n</strong>"10 Ways to Look at The Van der Waals Equation - 135 Years After"<br>\n<br>\n<strong>Abstract<br>\n</strong><span style="color: black;">135 years have passed since professor van der Waals has proposed his famous equation of state.</span></p>\n<p><span style="color: black;">A model that gave him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1910 <em><span>"for his work on the equation of state for gases and liquids"</span></em>.</span></p>\n<p><span style="color: black;">The van der Waals equation of state has, in either the original or most often in (slightly)&nbsp;modified forms, dominated in the 20th Century and still today in applied thermodynamics &nbsp;and has found widespread use in the petroleum and chemical industries.</span></p>\n<p><span style="color: black;">What is so special about the model and what could we expect from it in the future?</span></p>\n<p><span style="color: black;">We will illustrate in this presentation 10 ways to "read" and understand the van der Waals equation of state, 10 ways to look at the van der Waals equation of state which can help addressing these questions and appreciate the advances and the new era that started with this model.</span></p>
