DESCRIPTION:<h2 style="margin-bottom: 20px;">The Problem with People: &nbsp;why do we make perverse decisions? &nbsp;And what can we do about it?</h2>\n<p>\n</p>\n<div>Ron McLeod has more than 30 years of applied industrial and commercial experience. He holds a degree in Psychology, an MSc in Ergonomics and a Ph.D in Engineering and Applied Science. &nbsp; Until early 2014 Ron was Global Discipline Lead for Human Factors Engineering (HFE) within Royal Dutch Shell.<strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong>Ron has published scientific papers in a range of peer reviewed journals, has worked on many cross-industry committees and has authored or contributed to numerous industry best-practice guides. He holds a position as Honorary Professor of Engineering Psychology at Heriot-Watt University, and has recently been made a Visiting Professor at Loughborough University.&nbsp; He has been appointed by the Society of Petroleum Engineers as a Distinguished Lecturer for their 2016-17 lecture series.&nbsp; Ron&rsquo;s first book,&nbsp;<em>"Designing for Human Reliability:&nbsp; Human Factors Engineering for the Oil, Gas and Process Industries"</em>&nbsp;was published by Elsevier in 2015 (<a href="http://store.elsevier.com/product.jsp?isbn=9780128024218&amp;pagename=search">http://store.elsevier.com/product.jsp?isbn=9780128024218&amp;pagename=search</a>). &nbsp; Ron sits on the Council as a Trustee of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors. &nbsp;He is a European Ergonomist and is a member of&nbsp;the Human Factors and&nbsp;Ergonomics Society and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.</div>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><span>Website </span><span><a href="http://www.ronmcleod.com">www.ronmcleod.com</a></span><span></span></p>
