Laboratories

Experimental activities are housed in state-of-the-art laboratories extending the length of the second floor in building 229 and laboratories in building 114, 115 and 119.

The Center laboratories
Our large range of equipment falls broadly into the following categories: Core flooding equipment, Phase equilibria especially of complex systems (for example electrolytes, crude oil's at high pressure and temperature), Petroleum Pressure-Volume-Temperature relationships, Gas hydrates, Image analysis, High-Pressure Polymer fluid interaction, mineralogical identification (XRD), measurement of specific surface (BET), low field nuclear magnetic resonance, elastic wave velocity, electrical resistivity under triaxial stress, chemical analysis (ICP-OES) and an extensive array of analytical equipment.

Being a research lab, very little of our equipment is “standard” and setups are usually tailor-made to support specific research programs.

However, the main strength of our laboratories is not our impressive hardware, but rather our team of eight highly experienced laboratory technical staff.

The labs help to ensure success of the group by providing an invaluable resource which supports both our privately and publicly funded research efforts. We also undertake industrial contract research projects and commercial measurements.
