40 high school girls visited CERE in connection with Girls in Science Day at DTU

On October 2nd, forty high school girls visited CERE in connection with Girls’ day in Science at DTU. CERE organized a workshop on Science behind climate change and the girls learned about the latest technologies in carbon capture and storage (CCS), energy storage, gas hydrates and water science.

Ass. Professor Philip Fosbøl gave an interactive introduction to the topic including a quiz on the facts of CO2 emissions. He explained to the engaged audience how science can contribute to fight the CO2 emissions and the climate change.

After the introduction, the girls were visiting the CERE labs. Here they had the unique opportunity to hear senior researcher Nikolaj Blom, postdocs Humbul Suleman and Susana Almeida, PhD students Yingjun Cai, Meng Shi and Lucas Corrêa and research assistant Athanasios Varsos presenting their work on the water bridge, new lithium batteries, gas hydrates, and CO2 capture. The day ended with a visit to the absorber in the pilot plant.

  • Wetted Wall Column (WWC)
  • Vapour-liquid-equilibria
  • New batteries
  • Gas hydrates
  • Visit to the pilot plant

The visit at CERE was organized by researcher Teresa Regueira and research assistant Randi Neerup. During the day the girls got the helpful assistance of postdocs Tian Wang and Zahra Nickmand and PhD student Hadise Baghooee.
