PhD student Gabriel Moraes Silva received the Helmut Knapp Poster Award for his work entitled “The specificities of the different deviations of the Debye-Hückel equations”, which was presented during the ESAT conference that took place Graz (Austria) during 17-20 July 2022.

The work is already published in Molecular Physics Journal in the article“ On the derivations of the Debye-Huckel equations ” (Silva GM, Liang X, Kontogeorgis GM. On the derivations of the Debye-Huckel equations. Molecular Physics. 2022.  https://doi.org/10.1080/00268976.2022.2064353 ).

Gabriel Moraes Silva is doing his PhD in CERE since November 2021

Gabriel Moraes Silva´s PhD project “Modeling of Electrolyte Systems using the Non-Primitive Approach” is supervised by Georgios M. Kontogeorgis and Xiaodong Liang and is funded by

The European Research Council Adavnced Grant “New Paradigm in Electrolyte Thermodynamics” (ElectroThermo, GA 832460)  and DTU Chemical Engineering.

In addition to the aforementioned paper, Gabriel has already published one more work “Investigation of the Limits of the Linearized Poisson-Boltzmann Equation” in the Journal of Physical Chemistry Part B: Condensed Matter, Materials, Surfaces, Interfaces & Biophysica.

Two more studies are on the way to be published:

  • "The true Hückel equation for electrolyte solutions and its relation with the Born term" (Journal of Molecular Liquids, under review) and
  • "How to account for the concentration dependency of relative permittivity in the Debye-Hückel and Born equations" (Fluid Phase Equilibria, submitted).

Gabriel is still in his first year of the PhD.
