CERE´s Annual Internal Discussion Meeting was held 12-13 February at Hotel Frederiksdal in Lyngby. Due to the extent of the center and the amount of topics to discussion the meeting was for the first time held as a two-day meeting.
The meeting started with presentations from each Faculty member. They each presented the results for their projects with special focus on industrial collaboration on the topic “The best, the worst and the next…..” During the afternoon we were presented to some very different, inspiring and “How to do better” presentations followed by fruitful discussions after each presentation.
Late afternoon, Jane Bjørn Vedel who is finalizing her PhD in cooperation with Lundbeck, gave a presentation on “Adaptive frameworks – How to develop a flexible framework for research collaborations with industrial partners” – very inspiring and eye-opening presentation.
In order to gather all the fresh inputs from the day before, second day started with a pep talk from Zenia Francker from Founders House on “How to create the perfect pitch”. After this very inspiring talk, seven groups worked on a pitch for a specific “JIPs – Joint Industry Projects”. After one hour of group work each group presented their work in front of an industrial panel.
The panel consisted of Søren Poulsen, DONG Energy and Ricardo Vasques, Welltec A/S. The panel gave good feedback and announced a winner which by the way according to the panel was difficult since all presentations were very good.

The meeting was rounded off with an entertaining presentation by Cand. Scient Rune Wåhlin Andersen, and former professional soldier Thomas Rathsack from Metrik. Based on Thomas Rathsack’s experience as a professional soldier we got an insight into the scientific basis for the body's acute stress reactions, summarized by Rune Wåhlin Andersen with a number of concrete advices on stress management and mental training.
In addition to these very useful professional inputs there was also room for relaxed entertainment. The dinner on Wednesday evening was spiced with Brazilian rhythms from the music group "Tresafinado".
