Professor Georgios Kontogeorgis gave an invited lecture entitled “Equations of State in Three Centuries – Are we closer to arriving to a single model for all applications?” at the IX Brazilian Conference on Thermodynamics and V School of Thermodynamics (CBTermo 2017) in Porto Alegre on October 23-27.
The following questions were addressed in his lecture:
- What are the capabilities and limitations of equations of state as we know them today?
- How is the performance of cubic and non-cubic EoS compared to each other?
- What is the true application spectrum of cubic and non-cubic EoS ? Both in terms of systems and properties!
- Where do we stand today ? What have we learnt from almost 150 years of work with equations of state?
- What are the future challenges and what can we expect that the future will bring?
