New apparatus in CERE

In February CERE received a state-of-the-art PVT (pressure, volume and temperature) apparatus. The apparatus is purchased for the NextOil project funded by the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation (Højteknologifonden). The main purpose of the PVT apparatus is to perform PVT study of reservoir fluids especially at high pressure and high temperature (HP/HT) conditions. The apparatus consists of several high precision units for fluid recombination, PVT measurement, high pressure viscosity measurement and asphaltene precipitation study. All the units can be operated up to 1500 bar and 200 C. Equipped with a high pressure sapphire window, the PVT cell in the apparatus allows full visual observation of phase change at HP/HT. The apparatus can also be used to investigate high pressure phase behavior for systems other than reservoir fluids.
