This is a significant milestone for the company. Cement is a vital building material used in everything from buildings to large infrastructure projects, and it is therefore crucial to make cement production more climate-friendly. CO2 capture will play a vital role in this process, as it is not possible to produce cement without releasing CO2.
DTU Chemical Engineering developed the mobile facility that is now installed at Aalborg Portland's largest cement kiln. The facility can capture up to 1 ton of CO2 per day and will be tested by Aalborg Portland until October 2023, as the basis for a full-scale facility.
- This project aims to develop new technology that will reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to a more climate-friendly cement production in Denmark. This is a unique opportunity to test this technology at a company that plays such a large role in the climate change agenda - Associate Professor Philip Loldrup Fosbøl
