Research Profile:
Dr. Bhavikkumar Mahant is a chemical engineer and MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow.
He is working at the intersection of gas hydrates, hydrogen storage, carbon capture, advanced materials, and process engineering.
He completed his M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at IIT Madras under the prestigious Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship.
His doctoral research focused on the storage and transportation of Hythane (methane + hydrogen) using gas hydrate technology.
He was employed at the University of Western Australia as a Research Associate and worked on Sensing Technology development for gas hydrate detection for natural gas flow assurance.
His expertise includes thermodynamics, kinetics, material development, modelling, and process optimization and scale-up. He also brings industrial experience as a process engineer from UPL Limited.

 

MSCA Project at CERE:

“HyLoStorGH project” – Sustainable low-pressure hydrogen storage using gas hydrate technology.

The ultimate goal is to establish a validated experimental and modelling framework for confined hydrogen hydrates and demonstrate their potential for safe, repeatable, and scalable hydrogen storage.
