The Problem with People: why do we make perverse decisions? And what can we do about it?
Ron McLeod has more than 30 years of applied industrial and commercial experience. He holds a degree in Psychology, an MSc in Ergonomics and a Ph.D in Engineering and Applied Science. Until early 2014 Ron was Global Discipline Lead for Human Factors Engineering (HFE) within Royal Dutch Shell.
Ron has published scientific papers in a range of peer reviewed journals, has worked on many cross-industry committees and has authored or contributed to numerous industry best-practice guides. He holds a position as Honorary Professor of Engineering Psychology at Heriot-Watt University, and has recently been made a Visiting Professor at Loughborough University. He has been appointed by the Society of Petroleum Engineers as a Distinguished Lecturer for their 2016-17 lecture series. Ron’s first book,
"Designing for Human Reliability: Human Factors Engineering for the Oil, Gas and Process Industries" was published by Elsevier in 2015 (
