The Physical sediment laboratory is divided into the sediment laboratory and the preparation laboratory. The preparation laboratory produces covered and polished thin sections; polished samples; cutting, sawing and plugging all solids including sediments and rocks; maintenance of microscopes. The sediment laboratory is equipped with: He-porosimeter; Gas permeameter for 1 inch plugs; Surface Area Analyser- BET; X-ray powder diffraction analysis; P-wave velocity; Equipment for P- and S-wave velocity and electric resistivity (plug samples); centrifuge; sieving analysis of sediments; jaw crusher; disc mill; vibratory disc mill; access to sedigraph and helium gas Pycnometer.
