Innovative Enzymes and polyionic-liquids based membranes as CO2 Capture Technology

In order to achieve sustainable power generation from fossil fuels it is essential to be able to separate CO2 from flue gas. INTERACT, an EU project sponsored project as part of FP7, investigates the scientific and technological basis of radically innovative materials and processes. As part of the project, 2 PhD students will be employed at DTU Chemical Engineering, one at Process and one at CERE, looking at aspects of enhanced CO2 capture through the use of enzymes. Novozymes are also partners and contributors in the project. The goal of the project is to establish a basis for enzyme-enhanced CO2 capture, from lab to pilot scale with the extension to full-scale being enabled by process modeling.
