Evaluation of the Impact of Compositional Characterization of Reservoir Fluids on Modeling

The objective of this project is to identify the most critical data in the compositional analysis and investigate the impact of the compositional characterization results of reservoir fluids on the subsequent modeling of physical properties and phase equilibrium.

The project is aimed at better integration of the experimental characterization and utilization of the obtained information, thus investigating the possibility of improving the efficiency of reservoir fluid characterization and reducing the uncertainty in reservoir simulation.

We will try to investigate the possibility of incorporating the detailed component distribution, from SimDist and even GCxGC, into characterization and modeling.

The short project will not make a thorough update of all the relevant algorithms. It will rather modify the existing algorithms to account for the distribution information approximately so as to give a preliminary evaluation of its impact.
