The Under Deposit Corrosion (UDC) usually represents an important threat in the integrity matrix of oil and gas production and transportation facilities.
It has been recognized that UDC can be responsible for high corrosion rates and loss of containment during operations. In order to control this threat, development and implementation of effective prediction, monitoring and mitigation methods are required.
The objective is to develop an experimental design that makes it possible to pre‐estimate possible equipment failures from UDC, thus preventing downtime of production, loss of oil production and cost of expensive repairs. It could contribute to a 1-3 % increase in Danish oil and gas production, approx. 1-3 MMBOE/year, based on the incidents and shutdowns in 2013.
Thus, this research project aims at developing an experimental design for measuring UDC electrochemically for various low-pressure and high-pressure Danish Underground Consortium (DUC) conditions.
