This project belongs to WP1 in BioRec.
The purpose of the project is to model and investigate Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery (MEOR) with the focus of mechanisms and their importance on oil mobilization and production.
Project work:
- Further work on 1D and possibly upscaling to 2D/3D
- Reactive transport of bacteria
- Options for attachment of bacteria by equilibrium adsorption or irreversible deep bed filtration introducing changes of porosity. This influences permeability.
- Model development and implementation of spore-forming bacteria in combination with slug injection.
- Implementation of surfactant production and reduction of interfacial tension influencing the relative permeabilities.
Close collaboration will be carried out with the experimental PhD studies on MEOR and enzyme EOR.
