The spatial distribution of physical properties in a subsurface model, such as in an oil and gas reservoir, can be determined based on seismic-, production-, geological-, and well-data. In order to do this in a quantitative and consistent way, a mathematical formulation that provides a means of combining different sources of information has to be provided. In this project, we seek to find a way of solving this problem for a large scale reservoir model. The mathematical formulations that are applied provide a natural means of performing uncertainty quantification of the subsurface models. These models will be fed into a production optimization routine that takes into account the uncertainties related to the reservoir uncertainties. In this way, it becomes possible to track and propagate uncertainties from the initial observed data and all the way to the production optimization and forecasting.
